ULTRASOUND Training Program

This certificate program provides advanced classroom and clinical instruction in ULTRASOUND Imaging. Admission is limited. Completion of the prescribed curriculum will help prepare the student for the certification.

 

Comprehensive education and training:

• Medical Terminology

• Obstetrics and Gynecology

• Anatomy & Physiology

• Vascular Ultrasound

• Patient Care & Safety

• Abdomen & Small Parts

• Ultrasound Physics & Instrumentation

Minimum Admission Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Passing score on the Pre-Level Exam (administered at PMCI)

 

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program has a selective application process. Meeting the minimum requirements or recommendations does not guarantee you will be accepted into the program. From the pool of applicants, those who are considered most qualified for the study and practice of sonography will be admitted. Candidates with the following backgrounds will be given first priority on available classroom and clinical slots:

• Completion of at least 30 college credits or equivalent
                                               - OR -
  6 months of patient care experience or healthcare education
                                               - OR -
  Graduate of the Medical Assistant program at PMCI with a 3.0 GPA or higher

• A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher from all college coursework (Recommended GPA varies based on a pool of applicants)

A cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher from coursework completed at post-secondary technical/vocational schools. (Recommended GPA varies based on a pool of applicants)
